Maryland Ave Bridge Closure

Mr. B,

Thank you for writing. We don't yet have a new date for this work. We're still looking to have it done before the busy boating season so I'm thinking we'll get the contractor here in January or February. Will let you know as soon as a new start date is confirmed.

Kind Regards,
Bob Rager

Gates and Streets: NEW SIGNS.

Deep Harbour Gates and Traffic Control

New Traffic Signs:
15-mph speed limit, stop signs, and "no thru traffic" signs have been installed. Additionally, we have plans to install pedestrian crosswalks near the pool area.

Enforcement:
The Cambridge Police Department has agreed to initiate traffic monitoring for speeding, stop sign violations, and any other vehicular operation that puts pedestrians at risk.

Residents and visitors are reminded that MD Vehicle Laws state...
Depending on the circumstances, speeding could lead to a “reckless driving” conviction.
Maryland defines reckless driving as operating a vehicle “in wanton or willful disregard
for the safety of persons or property” or in a manner that indicates such a disregard.
A standard first offense carries up to $1,000 in fines. (Md. Code Ann., Transp. § 21-901.1 (2017).)

Gate Repairs:
Hancock Gate and Fence Company has been contracted to repair the gates.  Hancock will begin work on repairing the gates within the next three weeks.  The Trenton Street gates will be the first gates addressed and they will be closed while work is in progress.

The DHMA BOD will publish additional updates to keep the residents informed of safety initiatives and repairs.

Gates Closed at Trenton St

Gate Closure at Trenton St

The gates at the Trenton Street entrance to Deep Harbour have been closed to vehicular traffic.
***
The open gates have created an increase in through traffic and speeding along Seaway Drive.  All traffic will be required to enter and exit from Cedar St.  Cattail Cove will not be affected.
***
“15 Speed Limit” and “No Thru Traffic” signs will be placed at each entrance.  Also, a “Stop” sign will be installed at the blind corner at the south end of Seaway Lane near the marina.
***
The DHMA is evaluating bids for the repair of the gate operators.

Thank you for your patience on this matter,
Deep Harbor Master Association Board of Directors,

Deep Harbour Pool Improvements in 2017

The Deep Harbour Pool is a centerpiece of our community.  The good news is that attendance was up considerably this season in part due to improved management and oversight.

Much work has been completed in 2017. Under the leadership of Joe R, the pool has been serviced and ready is for next year.
Many thanks Joe!

In May, the pool opening was almost delayed due to some mechanical issues in the pump house. A frenzy of activity just before Memorial Day overcame multiple problems to pass Health Department inspection before the big weekend.
These included:
- Main pool pump motor replacement
- Sand in filters replaced
- Pipe leaks repaired
- GFI & motor overload electrical circuits upgraded
- Improved housekeeping of Pool House
- Purchase of an automated external defibrillator (AED)

As the season progressed, bids were solicited to re-surface the pool.
Pool surfaces must be re-plastered periodically.  Reserve funds
are set aside for this purpose. Work was completed in September & October.

In September, other projects were completed:
- Purchase and installation of storage shed to match the design of the pool house
- New pool cover

New pool cover

Shed matches building architecture

Sand filters, pump, and  equipment maintenance improvements

Improvements will continue in 2018.
- The plan is to open the pool for everyday of the week.
- Hopefully, the pool house front office can be re-purposed for community use.
- Of course, better financial management is always on the table.
