Attention: GATE CODE CHANGE! May, 2019

To all Deep Harbour Unit Owners

In the past year, the DHMA Board has initiated a more robust security and safety program.  Completing the fence line, limiting non-resident pedestrian access, and vehicular traffic has all been a first step in the process.  More projects are in the planning stage. We will need to balance cost with effectiveness when deciding on our next steps.

Included in an upcoming mailing is a notice regarding gate code changes, remote openers, and new pedestrian gate locks.  If you are a landlord, please convey this information to your tenants. The DHMA does not communicate with tenants directly.
Please note that as the gate code is abused more commonly, we plan to change the code more frequently.  In other words, get a remote opener.  Residents should not be using the code to enter.  They are available from Sentry at our cost of $27.00.

Also, encourage visitors to use the call box. Is your listing current?

Best Regards,
Deep Harbour Master Association Board of Directors
George Breig- President

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Notice to all Deep Harbour Unit Owners:
·       Gate code change
·       Remote transmitters aka clickers
·       New keypad locks on pedestrian gates
Gate code change
From time to time, the universal gate code is changed. Over a period of months, trespassing increases as the code ages.  To deter trespassing, the code will be changed more frequently in the future. As of May 1, a new code will be in force. The old code will be disabled on June 1, 2019.
NEW CODE …# NNNN (will be mailed to owners)
Passing this code to non-residents breaches the security of our community. Do not give it to outsiders like pizza delivery drivers.
Visitors should use the call box to enter. Each resident’s name is stored in the call box with an associated speed number.  Give your visitors and delivery drivers the speed number, not the general access code.
Not in the call box?   Call Sentry at 410-221-0398 ext 57100
Remote transmitters
Each resident should have a remote transmitter also known as a clicker. A clicker makes life easy. Code changes do not affect clickers. Entry is easy and safe when raining, snowing, and in the dark. These are available at the Sentry Office for $27.00
New Key Locks on Pedestrian Gates
Pedestrian gates are now equipped with keypad locks.  The entry code will be  N-N-N-N (mailed to all owners) which will be effective on May 15.
Why are the Cedar St Gates Open?
On December 30, the Cedar Street gates were not opening with the entry of the gate code.
After several reports from residents that their visitors and some residents were unable to enter, the gates were forced open on Monday evening, Hancock Gate, our service provider, visited DH on Friday, January 4, and determined that the keypad had failed. New parts are on order.
In the meantime, remotes openers, (aka Clickers,) are available at Sentry for $27.00 each.  This is the recommended way for all residents to enter the property. Visitors should use the directory to call their parties.
Gates and remote openers "Clickers"
For your information and to avoid technical frustration.
By design the gates will not open using a general purpose remote transmitter.
For security purposes. The gates only work with registered remotes.
The code ID number for each Liftmaster remote is entered into the gate control database.
This is how we prevent every Charlie and Matilda from entering our gated community.
Transmitter remotes built into you car cannot be taught to open the gate, nor can they be entered into the database.  Nothing is wrong with your car.
However, The remote in your vehicle can be taught to open for our buildings garage doors. Several folk have done this.  Read your operating manual. Don't ask me.
Thanks for following,
your Uncle George
Deep Harbour: Gates Operational
All Gates at Deep Harbour have been tested and now conform to the current safety standards.
The new motor operators are commercial grade and should prove to be more reliable.
Many have welcomed our return to a genuinely Gated Community.
Remote transmitters
Your remote transmitter, aka clicker, should work if it worked previously.
If not, move closer to the gate. The antenna range has been reduced for safety.
This requires vehicles to stop before passing through.
Another benefit is the elimination of the double opening of gates at the Trenton Street Circle.
Given the amount of time that has passed, your batteries may need to be replaced.
Batteries can be purchased at any hardware store or electronics store.
Keypad Code Entry
When entering the code, take your time. Press the keys in a deliberate way.
Common errors include not pressing the (pound) # key first.
Some times the (star)* key is pressed instead of the # key.
If an incorrect key pattern is used, wait for the unit to reset.
Entering the correct code too quickly puts the box into a funk.
Best practice
Remote transmitters are the best way to enter.
If it is raining or dark, it is nice to open the gate without rolling down your window.
Call Sentry if you would like to purchase a remote.  (410) 221-0398
email : cambridge@sentrymgt.com
More repairs
The keypads , LCD display, and keypad lights will be serviced next.
Gates, Cambridge Creek Bridge, DHMA meetings, Trash
Gates:
The gates at 700 Cattail Cove are now operational.  Work has begun on Cedar St and should be completed by Wednesday evening.  The keypads will be serviced to fix the keypad illumination and the distorted LCD display.
The use of remote controls or "clickers" is highly recommended. remote transmitters can be purchased from Sentry.
Cambridge Creek Bridge:
MDDOT has scheduled work for January - February. No firm date has been set as parts have not been received. The work will required the closing of the bridge to vehicle traffic for up to a week.
With our gates operational the flow of through traffic will be deterred.
DHMA
The DHMA Board of Directors has scheduled its next meeting for Thursday, February 15, 2018.
All owners are encouraged to attend the meeting at Sentry's Office, 601 Locust St, at 4:00 PM.
The agenda will be posted on this website.
Trash: Best Practices
Trash is to be placed in the dumpster ONLY!
No trash or bulk items are to be left on the ground.
The dumpster truck will not remove items left outside the container.
Please flatten boxes and throw your trash toward the back of the dumpster instead of dropping it just inside the door so we can use all space the dumpster affords us.
If you have bulk items such as mattresses, furniture, and other large items, please call the Sentry Management office at 410-221-0398 to arrange for pickup. cambridge@sentrymgt.com
There is a recycling bin on Tidewater Dr. near the Water tower.
Gates Closed at Trenton St
Gate Closure at Trenton St
The gates at the Trenton Street entrance to Deep Harbour have been closed to vehicular traffic.
***
The open gates have created an increase in through traffic and speeding along Seaway Drive.  All traffic will be required to enter and exit from Cedar St.  Cattail Cove will not be affected.
***
“15 Speed Limit” and “No Thru Traffic” signs will be placed at each entrance.  Also, a “Stop” sign will be installed at the blind corner at the south end of Seaway Lane near the marina.
***
The DHMA is evaluating bids for the repair of the gate operators.
Thank you for your patience on this matter,
Deep Harbor Master Association Board of Directors,
George Breig, President
