A pool party has been planned to end the summer season.

Date: Sunday, Sept. 6

(Rain Date Monday, Sept 7)

Location: Deep Harbour Pool

Time: 12-5 PM

What to bring: 

       A dish to share and drinks for you and your party!

You must bring a dish to share in order to participate.

The pool grill will be available for use.

What NOT to bring: Anything in Glass containers.

Pet Policy: Revisited.

The Pet Policy was passed by the board on May 9, 2009.
When you look at the policy, all appears reasonable.
The goal was to create a management policy that would protect persons and property.
The policy appears to have achieved that objective.Some Highlights:

• Each Pet must be registered. A maximum of two pets per unit.
• Animals are to be spayed or neutered.
• Proof of inoculation is required.
• The maximum weight of an animal has been set at 55 pounds.
• Pets are to be on the leash in all common areas.
• Owners are responsible for clean-ups.
• Dog(cat) tags that identify the owner are required. (The pets wear the tags.)

And the part I like,

• No orangutans, chimpanzees, elephants, or snakes!

End of Summer Pool Hours, August 2015

Our pool management problems appear to be under control for the remainder of the season.

Management would like to to remind the Deep Harbour Community of a change in hours. Back to School schedules make lifeguards scarce in late August and early September.

New pool hours:     Starting Tuesday, August 24
Monday- Friday:     4 PM - 8 PM
Saturday- Sunday:  11 AM - 7 PM

Last day for the pool is scheduled for Labor Day, September 7.

This summer, we have had continuing problems with American Pool Management Co.  The DH Master Association Board and Sentry Management are taking steps to get us through the season.

Availability of lifeguards seems to be the primary problem.  The good news is that resources for the upcoming weekends should be available. Weekdays will be more difficult.

Self-management is under consideration for a short term solution. Three Certified Pool Operators are on-site to ensure the chemistry of the pool is safe.  Insurance and Health Department issues have been identified and will be resolved as required.

Bottom line: 
Be prepared.  Pool closures may occur until the end of the season.  This problem is compounded by the fact that lifeguards are less available after school starts in mid-August.

New Energy Efficient Street Lamps Retrofit Project Saves Energy (& Money)

Deep Harbour's street lamps are now being replaced with LED lamps.  The lamps will be replacing HID lamps which were more efficient than fluorescent and incandescent bulbs already.  The new bulbs only consume 24 watts verses the 100 watt HID bulbs.  That's one quarter of the electricity of the HID bulbs. LED's also do not require a ballast.    Many thanks to Sentry Management for discovering this retrofit program.   Now, maybe we can use the energy savings to offset future costs.

Parking Policy for Deep Harbour

The following is an excerpt the parking policy for the Deep Harbour community.  This policy pertains to the common areas and is enforced by the Deep Harbour Master Association.

Current problems include commercial vehicles and trailed boats.  We thank those who have complied with these policies.

Fire Alarm System repaired

When things are repaired and operating properly, it is not always noticed.

Next time you walk out of the building, you may notice that the fire alarm system is no longer beeping. The pressure loss fault is gone.  A minor leak in the air charged sprinkler lines in the attic has been repaired and inspected.  Our fire alarm service company had great difficulty in obtaining the required parts.

It is important to note that the fire alarm and suppression system was always ready for service in the event of a fire.

Pool Management, DHMA

This season, Deep Harbour has experienced multiple problems with our pool management company. Most of the difficulty arises from insufficient staffing. There appears to be a shortage of lifeguards and qualified pool operators.

There have been multiple days when the pool was closed or late to open because no lifeguard was available.

We have also experienced problems with proper chlorination which has been fully resolved.

Sentry and the Master Board are working with the Pool Management Company to work through the problems to bring the availability of the pool to 100%.  That is what we pay for and should expect.

If necessary, The Deep Harbour Master Board of Directors will take additional measures to ensure that the pool is available to the community.

Ten local restaurants will be providing 12 of their favorite crab dishes in hopes of winning the Peoples' Choice or Judges' Choice awards. For the second year, Taste of Cambridge has the honor of serving as a qualifier for the World Food Championships, except that this year, we're letting our judges pick the winner.
