New sidewalks along Route 50 will improve pedestrian safety.

STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION REPLACES SIDEWALK ALONG US 50 IN CAMBRIDGE

(October 8, 2013) –The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is beginning a $660,000 project to upgrade concrete sidewalks along US 50 (Ocean Gateway) from the US 50 Bridge over the Choptank River (Frederick C. Malkus Bridge) to Crusader Road in Dorchester County.  SHA will begin construction on Wednesday, October 9 and be complete by mid-December, weather permitting.  

In addition to new sidewalk, SHA will install Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS) and Countdown Pedestrian Signals (CPS) at the US 50/Maryland Avenue and US 50/Cedar Avenue intersections.  The APS/CPS pedestrian crossings will improve pedestrian safety in Cambridge.  

During construction of the new sidewalks, crews are permitted to work from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Motorists can anticipate single-lane closures along US 50 during construction.  SHA will use variable message signs, as well as cones and barrels to direct traffic through the work zone. 

 SHA’s contractor for the work is Metro Paving, of Hyattsville.

This project was made possible with funding from the Transportation Infrastructure Investment Act of 2013, which maintains crucial system preservation investments and allows Maryland to activate long-term strategies to invest in Maryland’s transportation systems. By putting people back to work in the transportation industry with $4.4 billion in new investments in the next six years, Maryland is creating hundreds of millions of dollars in economic activity and providing Marylanders with the transportation infrastructure necessary to grow and prosper for decades to come. 

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Safer driving. Safer Work Zones. For everyone!

PLUMBING REPAIRS- DO NOT FLUSH!

Plumbing Repairs will be made tomorrow, Tuesday, September 25.

Please do NOT use any drains in your condo from 11:00 AM - 12:00 noontime.

DO NOT flush toilets
DO NOT use dishwashers or clothes washers
DO NOT use sinks
DO NOT use showers or bathtubs.

If you do use your drains, the contractor will get soaked.

The leak is just above the door that leads from the lobby to the garage.
You will notice a puddle that has been growing for the past two weeks on the garage side.

I really doubt that we all will remember this request.

It would be a good idea to place a bunch of post-it notes near all of you sinks, etc.
I'd hate to be the one that flushed the toilet on the plumber.

Maybe you should go out for lunch tomorrow.

Power Washing 900 Marshy Cove

Power Washing began this week.

The work began on the marina side of the building.

Only half the unit owners had removed their screens which means that their windows a were not fully washed.

The Cedar Street side of will be cleaned later this week.

You may still have time to remove your screens and balcony furniture. 

Power washing on the fourth four.   50 feet up. Not a job for me!

NO SOLICITATION!

This past week a young man gained entry to 900 Marshy Cove.  He proceeded to solicit residents door to door selling newspaper subscriptions.  He claimed that he had permission by using a resident's name.  Of course, he did not have permission. Nor can anyone grant permission as it is a Condo Association rule.

The individual also gained access to 700 Cattail Cove when he continued his solicitation. When asked to leave, he boldly refused claiming he had permission.  He did cease after the threat of police intervention.

Please refuse entry to the building to any non-residents no matter what their story!

Independence Day

Hopefully, you noticed the flag on the pole and the flag display over the 4th of July holiday. Many thanks go out to Billy Ray who donated the flags.  We also have a Maryland State flag that will be displayed once the mast line on the second flag pole is replaced.

GATE CODES: How it will work after July 8.

The letter sent to owners by TPW Condo Management did not cover all of the options available for Deep Harbour gate access.

Please note that the current numerical "community codes" will no longer work.

There are three options for entry:

1. As always, you may use your remote gate opener. You can buy one from TPW for $50.00
2. If you like, call Dan at TPW to register your own personal code. (The last four digits of your phone number is convenient.)  
3. Your phone number can be associated with your name listing in the Gate Box. Visitors scroll down the name listing. When they call you your phone rings and you can "buzz" them through the gate by pressing "9". Ask Dan for specific instructions. (Be sure to test this.)

Landlords need to communicate this information to their tenants. It has been suggested that tenants should be provided a remote gate opener. Perhaps a deposit should be collected to secure its return.

  

OK, Here's the catch. This policy will be worthless if you share you personal code with the pizza guy or other vendors. Your personal code can be just as easily shared as the old codes. The "1776" code was seen scribed on the men's room wall at Snapper's. That could be your code next week.

  

Insist that you delivery people use the gate box. That way you know that they have arrived.

DO NOT give your personal code to anybody outside your circle of trust.

Please note that TPW is contracted by the Master Association and therfore is reponsible for the gates.

Pool Issues:.....Falling Down?

Time has taken a toll on the pool's apperance.

 The Pergola was damaged by wind last October. You can see it is dramatically out of plumb.

Is the a safety hazard?

General repairs also need to made.  Here the baseboard has separated.

Other items:

• The curbing on the Kiddie Pool needs painting.
• The rain gutter on the pool building has plants growing in it. When was it last cleaned?
• The cover for the Grill needs to be replaced.
• Caulking is needed all round the pool.

Paver Progress! Repair Approved by Master Board

Good Morning and Happy 4th.

Work has been approved to repair the missing pavers along the Cambridge Creek-Walkway.
Some other repairs will made around the marina.

(no direct cost to 900 Marshy.)

This has been a safety hazard  and cosmetic defect for some time.
