Schindler Elevator just concluded installing and testing the
power failure rescue feature.
This feature will prevent entrapment during a power
outage.
***
During 2016, we experienced six power
outages each lasting 30–90 minutes.
If you recall, last June at 700 Cattail Cove, a resident was
trapped in the elevator for 45 minutes.
At 900 Marshy Cove, a resident, missed being
trapped by 30 seconds.
How the rescue feature works,
Upon a power failure, the controls switch to battery
power.
Next, the hydraulic valve is energized to allow gravity to bring the
elevator safely to the lobby level.
Upon reaching the lobby, the door open and stays open until power is
restored.
