Mistaken Identity: Doppelganger

Many thanks for the correction.
Everyone should go to her blog site for some fantastic photographs.
Most of which were taken here at Deep Harbour.
Check out the bald eagle photo.

Good Morning George,

I just saw your post on the Scaup, and wanted to kindly let you know they are actually Lesser Scaup and not Greater Scaup.  There are slight differences between the two, I attached one of my favorite Scaup charts that really helps with ID.  The top of the head is peaked at the back for Lesser, peaked at the front for Greater.  Also Lessers will sheen a purplish/greenish tint on the head, Greaters only greenish tint.

I hope I’m not offending you.  I am avid birder; I’ve loved the winter ducks here on the creek, it’s been quite special.  If you check out my blog, you’ll see a couple ‘rare’ ducks we’ve had as well that have come & go frequently.  (Long-tailed Duck, Golden Commoneye – both don’t normally come so far inland esp. around population).

Did you see the Eagle on the Osprey platform last month?

If you have any questions about any birds, please feel free to email me.  I would be more than glad to help with IDs.

Regards,

Donna W
