Garage Door Clickers, Need One?

  Garage Door Openers.

A clicker can make your life a lot easier in rain, snow, and darkness. Residents are discouraged from using the keypad for entry.  It should only be a back up method for entering. There have been two collisions with it in the past.

What to buy and where:

Chamberlain makes a Universal Clicker, Model KLIK3U which can be purchased on Amazon or at Lowes. cost under $35.00  Click here for more information on KLIK3U

Another brand that can be purchased on Amazon is ABIKI. Much less expensive at $17.90. I have purchased this model SM24 it works as well as the KLIK3U. Click here for more information

How to program it.

First, ignore the instruction contained with the clicker. YES, ignore the instructions. They don't apply to our door openers.

You can email George B. at mc900@comcast.net if you want to have it programmed. It is just easier. If you insist on the technical challenge, here goes!

Slide the cover off the front of the clicker.  Set the dip switches as follows. Set dip switches  1, 4, 6, 7 to "ON", all others to "OFF" or match a known operating Clicker.

Which way is "ON"? Out of the box all switches are in the "OFF" position.

There is also a black button.   Hold that black button down until the light goes on and stays on.  (Don't hurry the process.) Push the button on the clicker that you want to program to open the door 18 times. Yes, eighteen times.  Each time you push the button the light will blink.  Be patient.  You cannot push it again until the light stops blinking.  Once you get to the 18th time the door should then open. At that time you press the black button one more time to save the programming and leave programming mode.    Replace the cover.

Test it to make sure that it repeats. If it doesn't work, read the instructions again and try again or email mc900@comcast.net

You can also program the second button the same way.
