WHAT'S NEW

Experience the REAL Maryland in Dorchester!

We've always thought of Dorchester as a great place to experience the REAL Maryland, and it seems the Washington Post agrees! Their story on how to have the "most Maryland summer ever" includes a lot of Dorchester mentions -- Ocean Odyssey Seafood Restaurant, Skipjack Nathan of Dorchester, the Harriet Tubman Museum and Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway, the Choptank River Lighthouse, and RAR Brewing! Read the story

Step back in time at our old-time stores

Dorchester has its share of old-time grocery and country stores. Two of them, Simmons Center Market and Webster's in Cambridge, are featured in a story by Secrets of the Eastern Shore. Read the story. You can also experience the country store feel (and some great food!) at Reid's Grove Country Store in Rhodesdale, Lewis General Store in the Neck District, and Woolford Country Store in Woolford.

SUNSET OF THE MONTH

Sunset by Beverly Middleton

Here's our favorite Dorchester sunset photo from May, taken by Facebook fan Beverly Middleton on May 28. She was on her way to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, where she's a volunteer, but the skies lit up like this while she was still in East New Market. Congratulations, Beverly!

Thanks to all who submitted a sunrise/sunset photo this month!

Capture a beautiful sunset (or sunrise) during the month of June in Dorchester, and submit it for the next contest! Post it to the I Love Dorchester Facebook page or Instagram page, or email it to jill@visitdorchester.org.
