It appears that the power outage revealed more problems than originally reported. Apparently, the emergency back-up lights and in some hallways and the exit stairways did not work. There is an assumption that these systems are checked on a regular basis for operation. Are they? If not why not?
That beeping noise that you heard all weekend in the foyer is the alarm that indicates trouble with the back-up generator's battery. It is unclear what the battery failure means; but, it is evident that the building is not properly prepared for handling routine upsets.
We as residents need to start asking questions about the
maintenance and readiness of the building's systems. From there, we need to mandate that
Comanco has the proper procedures in place to keep all systems in proper working order. Our safety depends on it.
